About
I am about stories. The ones we speak out loud, and the ones we listen to…
With an MFA in stage design from Northwestern University, I have worked as a Chicago-based costume designer, storyteller, and educator in the theatre for the last 15 years.
After being honored with the 2025 SCBWI Tomie DePaola Mentorship Award for Illustrators, I turned to the Irish Folklore of my heritage in search of the kind of stories I want to tell.
I packed my bags, moved to the Irish countryside, and have just completed a postgraduate degree in Irish Folklore at University College Cork.
Freshly out of my mentorship and coursework, charged with inspiration and natural beauty, I am launching full throttle into full-time illustration and painting.
But that’s not all I’m about!
I am about dreams of sleeping and dreams of waking.
Light. Shadow.
I am about the great palimpsest that makes a delicious web of time and space
I am about birds and trees earth water and sky.
I am about beeeeeeees!
I am about animism. I talk to my teapot.
I am about materials. I wanna get my hands on em.
I am about Rumi. He is about me.
My pink and white dog, Owen, will sometimes eat some of my stick collection.
I play lots of music for myself and for my friends.
I love to sing with my sisters.
I’m about those things too.
I grew up on the Northeast coast of Turtle Island.
I have been living beside Lake Michigan for most of my adulthood.
My mother’s family is of Italy.
My father’s family is of Ireland.
I am about all these places!
Mostly I am ALL about MAKING things!
Paintings. Drawings. Sculptures. Costumes. Puppets. Masks. Music. Connections.
My life is about beauty and wonder, even in the mysterious dark!
I am about doing my best to share what I am ABOUT
and to live my life in collaboration with our dear Earth and her glorious wheel of seasons.
